As a new season unfolds for our family, there’s an exciting shift in the air. The boys have embarked on their own grown-up journeys—Chris is working and figuring out his next steps, while Basson is immersing himself in the world of marketing in Stellenbosch. With the kids now navigating life on their own, our home feels a little quieter than the previous two decades. But even as our nest empties, it’s a time of great possibility and exploration for us as a family. No longer consumed by the full-time responsibility of parenting (just the funding of side of it!), we’re dreaming about what’s next and embracing the space for new adventures.
Just like our boys are shaping their futures, Truter Wines has been going through a transformation. After 17 years of starting up a family business we’ve spent the past year redefining what our wines means to us and ultimately to you. That’s why, as part of our rebranding, we’re excited to introduce a new addition to our wine family - Truter Cap Classique.
Our Cap Classique Journey
We’ve been dreaming of launching our own bubbles for so many years and now it’s finally here. When we tasted the finished product at the end of last year and we (especially me) couldn’t contain our excitement. It was everything we’d hoped for and more. The response from those who have tasted it so far has been encouraging, and we’re hope that it will give you as much joy as it does to us.

During the second fermentation in the bottle, the wine rests on the lees—tiny yeast particles that add a creamy texture and complex aromas. The longer it stays on the lees, the richer the flavour. Unlike mass-produced sparkling wines, Cap Classique is bottle-fermented—a hands-on process that delivers smooth, refined character that makes it worth the wait.
